SCHOOL, CURRENT ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
David is currently leading the School Improvement Team in a large Multi-Academy Trust, having recently served as one of their headteachers. Prior to headship, David enjoyed a successful spell as Deputy Headteacher at Barrow Primary School, where he had responsibility for leading teaching and learning at Barrow as well as other partnership schools. David has always combined his leadership roles with class teaching and this has enabled him to lead by example on many new teaching initiatives. He has led several StSS deployments and a great number of CPD events for experienced teachers, NQTs and teaching assistants.
David`s particular professional interests include:
David has a keen eye for innovative ways of developing classroom practice and particularly enjoys researching, developing and sharing assessment for learning strategies. He has significant experience of developing and evaluating assessment and tracking systems and is interested in the ways that new systems can be embedded and evidenced across the curriculum in classrooms, making assessment a useful tool rather than a hardship. In his current role, David provides support to schools and leaders during Ofsted inspections and this has developed his interest developing high quality subject leadership across the curriculum. David is also a proponent of strong inter-school links and is interested in exploring how to develop and achieve as much as possible from these relationships.

Aside from his main role, David enjoys working with trainee teachers and is currently a SCITT Tutor, mentoring supporting and designing the training programme for the students. David has successfully mentored middle and senior leaders in leadership of teaching and learning such that improvements in schools can be sustainable once his deployments are completed.
An experienced and engaging facilitator, David has successfully co-facilitated two OTP programmes with ConnectED and has designed his own programme of support, which can be tailored for individual schools or teachers.
